The Properties Widget in Novorender gives you access to all information about objects in your model.
It allows you to inspect details and configure Starred Properties (project-wide favorite properties).

1. Accessing the Properties Widget

  • Open the Properties Widget to view information about any selected object in the model.

  • The widget displays the object’s attributes, hierarchy, and available property sets.

2. Object Information

2.1 Object Path

  • Shows the location of the object in the model hierarchy.

  • You can also find the object in the model tree or in PROJECTS in Novorender.

2.2 Property Sets

  • Found at the bottom of the widget.

  • Each object may have one or more property sets containing additional details.

  • You can expand these sets to view specific information.

2.3 Parent Object

  • Displays the object one level higher in the object hierarchy.

  • Selecting the parent will highlight all objects with the same parent (e.g., an entire IFC building story).

  • You can continue moving upward to select broader parts of the model.

3. Sorting and Settings

3.1 Sort Button

  • Located at the top of the widget.

  • Sorts all properties alphabetically for easier navigation.

3.2 Properties Settings (Three-Dots Menu)

  • Provides additional configuration options.

  • Enables the Star Properties feature (favorite properties).

4. Starred Properties

4.1 What are Starred Properties?

  • A way to favorite important properties for quick access.

  • Starred properties apply project-wide, so all team members will see them.

4.2 Adding Starred Properties

  • Select enable to start using starred properties. Hit save afterwards.

  • From the settings menu, add properties directly by typing.

  • Alternatively, star properties from the object’s property list:

    • Example: Select MMI Status → click the star → it is added to the project’s starred list.

4.3 Using Starred Properties

  • When selecting an object, all starred properties appear directly in a quick-access list.

  • Only relevant starred properties for the object type will appear.

    • Example: If you star an electrical property, it won’t show on a bridge object unless applicable.

5. Selecting Similar Objects

  • In the properties widget, you can select all objects sharing the same property.

  • Example:

    • Select MMI Status on one object → all objects with the same MMI status are highlighted.
