Keep Objects and Model in Selection Basket for Focused Viewing and Quantity Takeoff

The Selection Basket Widget in Novorender allows you to collect and manage selected objects or files for focused viewing.
This tool is useful for isolating, comparing, or repeatedly working with specific parts of your model without distraction.

User this tool for quntity takeoff from the 3D model.


1. Accessing the Selection Basket

  1. Open the Files & Attributes Collection.

  2. Select Selection Basket from the menu.


2. Adding Items to the Basket

  • From the Widget: Select an object, file, or multiple files β†’ click Add β†’ items appear in the basket.

  • From the 3D View: Right-click an object β†’ choose Add File to Selection Basket.

  • The basket will update with the total number of objects currently stored.


3. Removing Items

  • Find the item in the basket and click Remove to deselect it.

  • The object count will automatically decrease.

  • Use Clear to empty the entire selection basket at once.


4. Viewing Modes

The Selection Basket provides three modes for visualizing objects:

  1. All (Normal)

    • All objects in the model are visible.

    • Basket items are not highlighted.

  2. Semi-Transparent for Basket

    • Objects in the basket remain fully visible.

    • Everything else in the model becomes semi-transparent.

    • Useful for focusing on basket items while still seeing context.

  3. Full Transparent Mode

    • Only objects in the basket remain visible.

    • All other objects in the model are hidden.

    • Ideal for isolating specific elements.


5. Example Workflow

  1. Select a building floor and add it to the basket.

  2. Switch to Semi-Transparent mode to study it in context with surrounding elements.

  3. Later, add HVAC components to the basket for comparison.

  4. Switch to Full Transparent mode to isolate them entirely.

  5. Once done, Clear the basket to reset.


6. Quantity Takeoff

  1. Click the three dots at the top left of the Selection Basket widget.

  2. Select Export as CSV.

  3. Select which properties that will be exported to the csv file.

    • Each object in the selection basket gets one row in the csv file.

    • Each selected property in the export gets one column in the CSV file.
