The Area Widget in Novorender allows you to measure surface areas of objects directly in the model.
This tool is especially useful for construction planning and verifying material requirements.

1. Accessing the Area Measurement Tool

  1. Click on the Measurements menu.

  2. Select Area.

  • The tool lets you snap to object points for precise measurements.

  • Measurements can be performed in both 3D and 2D views.

2. Measuring Areas

2.1 Basic Measurement

  • Select the Area tool and snap to the object’s corner points.

  • The widget will automatically calculate the surface area.

  • Example: An object may measure 1.2 m², shown both in the viewer and in the widget.

2.2 Using Clipping and 2D Mode

  • You can enable clipping to isolate the part of the model you want to measure.

  • Switch to 2D mode for more accurate measurements in cross-sections.

  • Snap to points in 2D just like in 3D.

3. Area Widget Features

When the widget is open, you have several tools for managing your measurements:

  • Undo Last Point: Remove the most recent snap if you made a mistake.

  • Add Points: Continue adding new points to refine your area measurement.

  • Save Measurement: Save your current work for later reference.

  • Start New Measurement: Begin a new measurement without clearing old ones.

4. Managing Selections

  • Turn Off Selection: Prevent accidental selection of measurement objects.

  • Clear Measurements: Deletes all stored measurements in the widget.

  • Disable Tool: Turns off the Area measurement tool completely.
