Overview

Forms is a tool used for creating checklists, documenting observations, and highlighting concerns directly within a 3D model. It supports two main types of forms:

  • Geo Forms – Used to place observations at specific locations in the model.

  • Object Forms – Used to attach documentation directly to objects in the model for tracking progress and completion.

Geo Forms

Geo Forms are 3D markers placed at specific locations in the model to document issues such as cracks, missing railings, or safety concerns. These markers appear visually in the model and can contain relevant information including:

  • Text descriptions

  • Images

  • Dates

  • PDFs

Teams commonly use Geo Forms to flag environmental or safety issues, or to insert 3D placeholders for elements like fences or railings.

You can also use custom 3D symbols (e.g., cones, barriers, pins) to visually distinguish different types of Geo Forms. These are selected during form template creation.

Object Forms

Object Forms are assigned directly to model objects. They're primarily used to:

  • Track construction progress

  • Support systematic completion

  • Attach documentation to model elements for future maintenance and operations

Forms are added to all objects that have the property you search for.

When models are updated, this will happen to Forms:

  • New objects that applies to the search in the Forms template will get a Form attached

  • Objects that applied to the search and are deleted will have the Form saved to prevent data loss

Creating a Form Template

  1. Open the Forms Widget
Click Add Form to start creating a new template.

  2. Title and Property Sync

    • Set the title of the form.

    • Optionally, use Sync with Property to automatically name forms based on a property (e.g., GUID).

  3. Approval Flow

    • Define who can make final signatures by entering email addresses.

    • Multiple approvers can be added.

  4. Form Type
    Choose between:

    • Object Form – Assigned to model objects.

    • Geo Form – Placed as 3D pins or symbols in the model.

  5. Geo Marker Type (for Geo Forms)
Select a marker type (e.g., pin, cone, barrier) to represent the Geo Form.

  6. Assign Objects (for Object Forms)

    • Use the Object Assign search tool to select model objects (e.g., based on IFC properties).

    • Forms will be created and attached to all selected objects.

  7. Form Content
    Add form items such as:

    • Checkboxes

    • Dropdowns (e.g., Yes/No)

    • Text inputs

    • Image uploads

    • Property-synced fields

Use “Always relevant” to mark fields that must be filled before submission.

  8. Save the Template
You can choose to save the form as a draft or publish it.

  9. Reusing Templates
Use Create from to duplicate and modify existing templates.

Form Status and Color Codes

Forms use a color-coded system to reflect progress:

  • Red – Default state for all new forms (before any changes are made).

  • Yellow – Form is edited but not yet signed.

  • Blue – All required fields are filled and the form is signed by a user.

  • Green – Final signature from someone in the approval flow has been made. The form becomes read-only.

To enable this workflow:

  • The form must include an approval flow with at least one valid email.

  • A user from the approval flow must check “My signature is final” when signing.

Filtering and Searching

Templates

  • Filter by: object forms, geo forms, published, draft, or template name.

Individual Forms

  • Filter by: form status (unsigned, signed, final signature), or search by name.

Visibility Settings

You can control the visibility of Geo Form markers:

  • Show markers when the component is closed – Markers remain visible even when the Forms widget is closed.

  • Transparency settings – Toggle between transparent (everything else disappears when a form is open) or neutral (model remains visible).

Form History

Each form includes a history log, allowing you to track all changes and edits made over time.

Summary

Forms make it easy to capture observations, ensure construction quality, and manage documentation—all within the context of your 3D model. Whether used for visual tracking, safety flagging, or quality control, Forms are a flexible and powerful part of your project workflow.
