Overview

The ArcGIS widget in Novorender allows you to connect to and visualize data from ArcGIS Feature Servers directly within your project. It supports multiple servers, interactive navigation, and detailed object inspection.

Prerequisites

Before using the ArcGIS widget, ensure that:

  1. Coordinate System is Assigned
Your project must have a coordinate system set for your project in Novorender.

    • You can configure this in Edit Project settings in projects.novorender.com

  2. Public ArcGIS Feature Server
You have access to a public ArcGIS Feature Server URL to connect and load data.

Accessing the ArcGIS Widget

  1. Locate the ArcGIS Widget
In the current interface it is under collection called Integrations and the widget called ArcGIS.
Note: You might need to toggle on the feature in Adv. settings -> Features -> Widgets

  2. Open the Widget
Click on the ArcGIS widget to start adding data sources.

Adding a Feature Server

  1. Prompt for Server URL
Upon opening the widget, you’ll be prompted to Add a Feature Server.

  2. Enter the URL
Paste the Feature Server URL into the input field.

  3. Automatic Naming
The name will be inferred from the URL automatically.

  4. Optional Name Edit
You can modify the name to something more descriptive if needed.

Visualizing Layers

  1. Layer List
Once a Feature Server is added, all available layers will appear in the list.

  2. Display Options
    You can:

    • Visualize all layers together.

    • Toggle individual layers on/off.

  3. Initial View
By default, layers may only appear in 2D top-down mode and might not be visible immediately.

Navigating to Layers

  • Fly To Function
Use the Fly to option to center the camera on all layers from the selected Feature Server.

  • This action switches to a 3D perspective for better visualization.

Inspecting Feature Information

  1. Selecting Objects
Click on an object in a layer to open its feature info panel.

  2. Data Displayed
    The panel will show:

    • Attribute details about the point or object.

    • External links to the Feature Server and the specific layer.

Adding Multiple Feature Servers

  • You can add multiple Feature Servers by repeating the “Add Feature Server” process in the widget menu.

  • Each server will have its own set of layers that can be toggled and navigated independently.
