This guide walks you through the process of setting up and using the Newforma Konekt integration within your Novorender project using the BCF API.
Prerequisites
An active Newforma Konekt account with permission to access integration settings.
A project created in Novorender Explorer.
Appropriate user permissions in Novorender to edit project settings and enable widgets ((Project Administrator role or higher).
1. Set Up a Project in Newforma Konekt
Log in to Newforma Konekt.
Choose the correct Hub where your project is established.
Navigate to the Projects section.
Create or open a project and configure it as needed (disciplines, participants, workflows, etc.). For additional assistance, consult Newforma Konekt Help Center.
2. Access API Integration Settings
From the Newforma Konekt dashboard:
Navigate to GENERAL MENU on the left-hand side.
Select INTEGRATIONS.
Find the tile labeled 'BCF Server'.
Under the text "Query the following url to use the api", copy the URL provided.
This will be used to connect with Novorender.
3. Open Your Project in Novorender
Launch Novorender Explorer
Enter the scene (EXPLORER) associated with the project where you want to enable Newforma Konekt integration.
4. Enable the Newforma Konekt Widget in Novorender
In the project interface:
Go to Settings.
Click on Adv. Settings (Advanced Settings).
Navigate to Features → Widgets.
Locate the Newforma Konekt widget. Toggle it ON and click SAVE to apply changes.
5. Launch the Integration Widget
After saving, go to the Integrations menu in Novorender.
Select Newforma Konekt.
A new window will appear with a Log In prompt. Follow the steps to authenticate.
You will be asked to paste the BCF API URL you copied from Newforma Konekt (see point 2.).
Once the URL is submitted:
A list of available projects from Newforma Konekt will be populated.
Select the appropriate project.
Follow the authentication flow to complete the connection.
Notes & Tips
Only authorized users with integration access rights can successfully authenticate.
If login fails, check whether the API token has expired or if your user role supports BCF API access.
