This guide will walk you through the steps to set up a connection between your Novorender scene's database and a Power BI dashboard. Follow these steps carefully to ensure a seamless integration.

Step 1: Request the Starting .pbix File and API Key

Before starting, please contact our support team and provide them with project specific Scene ID to receive the following:

A starting .pbix file for your Power BI setup

An API key specific to your organization

These resources are essential to establish the connection between your Novorender scene and Power BI.

To connect the Power BI dashboard to the correct project, you need to locate the Scene ID of the Novorender project you want to work with.

Navigate to the project you want to connect to Power BI.

- Log in to your Novorender account.
- Navigate to the project you want to connect to Power BI.
- Copy the Scene ID of the project.

Open the .pbix file you received from us.

Once the file is open, you'll need to input the API Key and Scene ID to allow access to the project data.

Follow the instructions for entering this information, ensuring both the API Key and Scene ID are entered correctly. NOTE: The API key for your organization or project might be already present in the file you received from us.

Save the changes in the query editor to finalize the connection.

Sharing the Power BI dashboard: If you want to collaborate with others, use the web version of Power BI to upload the dashboard to your workspace and share it with your project members via the shareable link.
