Overview
The Groups feature in Novorender allows you to organize filters into structured collections, making it easier to manage complex models. This manual explains all available settings and actions for creating, editing, and managing groups.
1. Group Structure
Groups: Containers for related filters.
Subcategories: Nested sections inside a group for further organization.
Options within Groups: Settings for renaming, ungrouping, freezing, editing, duplicating, deleting, and changing appearance.
2. Group Actions
2.1 Rename
Function: Changes the name of a group or filter.
How: Click the group or filter name → Edit → Save.
Example: Add numbers or descriptive text for quick identification.
2.2 Ungroup
Function: Removes a filter or subcategory from its group.
Result: Items appear individually without their previous header.
Example:
BlastProfile
andPointCloudTunnel
can be ungrouped from their parent.
2.3 Freeze / Unfreeze
Freeze: Permanently removes the selected filter from the model’s rendering, improving load times.
Note: The frozen item won’t appear visually in the model but can be restored.Unfreeze: Restores the frozen filter back into the model.
2.4 Edit Search
Function: Opens the search settings for the filter.
Use Case: Modify search parameters without starting from scratch.
2.5 Duplicate
Function: Creates an exact copy of a filter.
Benefit: Saves time by reusing similar settings.
2.6 Delete
Function: Permanently removes a filter.
Confirmation: A prompt will ask for confirmation before deletion.
3. Appearance Settings
3.1 Change Highlight Color
Function: Assign a custom highlight color to a filter for visual identification.
Example: Change from default to blue.
3.2 Adjust Transparency
Function: Set how visible the highlighted item appears.
Hidden Transparency: When an item is hidden, you can set it to be partially visible:
25%, 50%, 75% hidden
Default is 100% (fully hidden)
4. Managing Multiple Groups
4.1 Edit Groups
Access: Click Edit Groups in the Groups widget.
Actions:
Delete all groups at once.
Delete selected groups.
Cancel without making changes.
4.2 Group Selected Items
How: Select two or more filters → Assign a group name → Save.
Example: Selected items grouped into Collection 1.
4.3 Rename a Group
Function: Change the group’s display name.
Example: From "Collection 1" to "New Name".
4.4 Add a New Group
Function: Create an empty group to assign filters later.
5. Saving Changes
Important: Always click Save after making changes in the Groups widget.
Warning: If you reload the web browser without saving, all changes will be lost.
