To ensure the best performance of web applications like Novorender, your browser (Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) should be configured to use the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). This helps accelerate rendering and enhance overall responsiveness.

Follow the steps below to enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling and ensure your browser is set to High Performance. See the video or follow these steps:

1. Open Graphics Settings

  • Click on the Windows Start menu.

  • Type “Graphics Settings” in the search bar.

  • Select the Graphics Settings option that appears.

2. Enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling

  • In the Graphics Settings window, scroll down to “Advanced graphics settings” and expand the list.

  • “Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling” Toggle the switch to On.

  • This setting allows Windows to offload most GPU scheduling to the hardware, which can improve performance and reduce latency.

Note: If this setting is not available, make sure your system is up to date and your GPU drivers are current.

3. Set Browsers to High Performance

  • In the Graphics Settings window, scroll down to the “Customized settings for applications” section.

  • Click “Search this list” and type Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge depending on which browser you use.

  • If the search results are empty please select the application by clicking “Add desktop app”

  • Navigate to the location of the browser you use (e.g., Google Chrome or Edge).

    • For Google Chrome:
      C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

    • For Microsoft Edge:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

  • Click “Add”

  • After adding the app, click on the browser's name in the list (or start typing in “Search this list”) and open the drop down menu.

  • Under “GPU preference”, choose “High performance”

Repeat this process for all browsers you use with Novorender.

4. Restart Your Computer

  • To apply all changes effectively, restart your PC.
