In this video I will show you how you can set up Clash Detection in Projects.

The Clash Detection feature in Novorender lets you create, configure, and manage clash checks within your project.
By setting up clashes, you can compare different parts of the model to detect conflicts such as overlaps, collisions, or interferences.

1. Creating a New Clash Detection

1.1 Access the Clash Setup

  1. Go to the top root folder in your project.

  2. Right-click the folder, or click the three dots at the end.

  3. Select Clash Detection from the menu.

1.2 Viewing Existing Clashes

  • You will see a list of all clash detections that have already been created.

  • Each detection has a title that describes what is being compared.

  • Example: Construction vs. Structural, or Construction vs. Railings.

1.3 Adding a New Clash Detection

  1. Click the “Add” button.

  2. Enter a title for the new clash detection.

  3. Confirm by clicking Add — the new clash will appear in the list.

2. Defining Clash Parameters

When setting up a new clash detection:

  • Select one part of the project as the source category.

    • Example: All Construction elements.

  • Select another part or property of the project as the target category.

    • Example: All Railing elements.

  • The detection will check for interference between the two sets.

3. Saving the Clash Detection

  • Once configured, click Save to finalize the clash detection.

  • The system will store the detection and make it available for review in the Clash Widget.

  • If you don’t save, the setup will be lost when navigating away.

4. Example Workflow

  1. Create a clash titled Construction vs. Railings.

  2. Set Construction as the left-hand (source) category.

  3. Set Railings as the right-hand (target) category.

  4. Save the detection.

  5. The clash detection will now identify any guardrails that interfere with construction elements.
